Professionals. She also served as the Director
of Private Practice and Industry at the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In
June of 2004, Gail resigned her position at ASHA
to pursue private practice full time. During her
tenure at ASHA she conducted many interviews and
was the Ex-Officio on a number of practice
documents.Gail is also a Technical Expert for

healthcare professionals on equipment for
hearing evaluations and hearing aid fitting.
Her area of expertise in the field of audiology
is hearing aid fitting. She takes special care

Audiometric
Evaluations for Adults
Potomac
Audiology's audiometric evaluation for adults
consists of testing with both speech and pure
tones. Pure-tone testing determines the amount
of hearing loss for the volume of sound and
speech-discrimination testing evaluates hearing
loss that affects the intelligibility of speech. |

Custom-Made Ear
Molds for Noise Protection
Any type of
noise exposure is potentially damaging to
hearing, so whether your noise exposure comes
from your work environment or just mowing your
lawn, custom ear molds can provide protection
from noise-induced hearing loss. We offer
custom-made in-the-ear monitors for musicians
for onstage or personal use, as well as
earpieces custom-fit for maximum comfort for
hands-free cellular phone operators. |
|
Real-Ear
Measurement
Real-Ear
Measurement is made using a small tube that is
attached to a microphone. This tube is inserted
into the ear along with the hearing aid,
allowing the true output of the aid (as modified
by the ear canal with the hearing aid in place)
to be measured, thus assuring adequate
amplification when setting or programming the
aid. |
|
Tinnitus
Diagnostics, Management and Tinnitus Retraining
Therapy (TRT)
Many people
experience ringing or other noise in the ear or
head. We evaluate the nature of this noise,
making appropriate medical referrals, and
discuss possibilities in management such as
tinnitus retraining therapy (TRT). |
|
Assistive Listening
Devices (ALDs)
Potomac
Audiology provides information and guidance on
the use of assistive listening devices, such as
amplified telephones, FM transmitter systems and
infrared systems. These systems serve as
additional help in situations when hearing aids
do not provide adequate assistance. We will
either order the appropriate device or provide
you with information to obtain products
yourself.
