ABOUT US

The professional staff at the Advanced Pain Medicine Institute at Greenbelt Surgery Center strives to provide the best quality care and treatment to our patients.  Our goal is to completely alleviate our patients from pain and provide the ability to live the highest quality of life.

The Advanced Pain Medicine Institute provides an array of comprehensive pain management services.  Interventional pain therapies such as fluoroscopy-assisted epidural steroid injections are used to treat sciatic symptoms of the lower back and legs.  “Percutaneous disc decompression” or “IDET” is a procedure used to treat patients who have been diagnosed with a herniated disc, but are not a surgical candidates.

Severe arthritic disease of the lower back and neck that causes painful muscle spasm may respond successfully to “radio-frequency treatment” of the inflamed spinal joints.  Patients who suffer from “failed-back syndrome” following multiple surgical procedures can be evaluated for the implantation of a spinal cord stimulator.  This “high-tech” device is the “pacemaker” for pain management.  Additional implant therapies include a peripheral nerve stimulator for unresolved tension headaches as well as an intraspinal drug delivery system for intractable pain and muscle spasms.

The elderly and those diagnosed with osteoporosis often sustain vertebral fractures.  If treated in a timely fashion with vertebroplasty, these patients may be spared years of chronic back pain.  Those suffering from diabetic neuropathy, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, phantom limb pain, severe migraines and chronic pelvic/abdominal pain (caner and non-cancer related) would be evaluated by a physician certified in pain medicine to determine the appropriate treatment for their condition.

The Advanced Pain Medicine Institute also provides confidential office based detoxification with buprenorphine.
